Who was Natural'Grass?

Natural'grass was Kim and Mike's first band together. This long running and extremely well equipped band consisted of Mike on guitar, Kim on guitar and mandolin, Brian Ford on banjo, Al Roline on fiddle and Cathe O'Bey on stand-up bass and concertina. The band was well known for their pure harmonies and fast banjo picking. Natural’grass was together for about 12 years before calling it quits and moving on as most bands do.

They performed at many festivals throughout the state including the wonderful Minnesota Bluegrass and Old-time Music Festival. With their yearly draws to the Duluth and Superior parks for concerts this group was well followed and many were saddened by them leaving the music scene.

The band released it's only recording in 1993 in cassette tape format. Kim and Mike have now re-mastered that recording onto CD and have it available for sale along with their other CDs. The cover of the project was an original piece that Kim made of stained glass of the band itself. It was one of her first pieces in glass and remains a favorite, hanging in the window of their music room to this day.

Since the band was together individuals from the band have gotten together and played some music from time to time. Others have moved on to other bands and other musical endeavors all together.
