Kim Curtis-Monson From time to time an occasion calls for Kim and Mike to entertain as a duo. This is where they get to stray and stretch a little bit from the rest of the group. They have performed alone and along with others, or other bands even. Kim hosts a Chick Jam, once a month with others at the Amazing Grace Bakery. Every second Sunday of the month, Kim and others "grace" the stage at the bakery, welcoming girls and women of all ages and abilities to come a perform with them. This gathering is in it's 6th year and from it has spawned....(fish joke!) the Warm Women of the North band. For the last 5 years Kim has organized a charity event of all local women on stage for an evening of music, love and laughter. Each year different women are asked to be a part of this fund raiser and each year the money goes to a different charity organization or individual family in need. During that evening, the Amazing Grace Bakery is overfilled with a huge crowd and great music. The Warm Women of the North is now a full fledged band and travels around the state entertaining large crowds. Kim and Mike were originally drawn together because of bluegrass music. They met at Sir Benedict's Tavern on the Lake over 20 years ago. A friendship began and then the musical connection was made, the rest is history. There is nothing they enjoy more than those moments of singing an old country song together, hearing the harmonies, feeling the chills and knowing that the relationship comes purely from love and that love of music together. You can hear them perform as a duo in many smaller venues throughout the state. |
