Brian Ford has been playing the banjo since 1977. He has had no formal lessons, but learned everything from instructional books and recordings. His playing style is influenced by Pete Wernick, Earl Scruggs, Tony Trischka, Bela Fleck, J.D. Crowe, and Bill Knoff. Brian took first place in the banjo competition in Iowa in the earlier years. He has written 16 original instrumentals. He also writes tablature for various banjo breaks and is currently working on a tab writing project with Pete Wernick. The tablature for Pete’s banjo break on Church Street Blues is being published in Banjo Newsletter. |
